Over on Tumblr, popsonnet is... well, what the name implies: taking pop songs and reformatting them as Elizabethan sonnets.

I was trying to decide which one to link to as an example, and then I saw Sonnet IV and it was pretty much inevitable:

25th-Feb-2011 02:07 am - How to Dance
Cara Leap
How to Dance | The Content Farm | Tumblr -- [Dancing was invented by the producers of Club MTV in 1985 and has since grown to become a staple activity at social events such as parties, wedding receptions, and funerals. Though popular wisdom suggests that some ethnic groups may dance like *this* while other dance like *this*, the essentials can be outlined in a few simple steps.]

This does, in fact, incorporate quite a few song references--a dance music compilation, if you will. :)

XKCD produces a lyrical flowchart that includes four different songs simultaneously.
6th-Dec-2010 08:52 pm - Hey Jude: Lyrical Flowchart
Lyrical Flowcharts: Live Charting 'Hey Jude' of The Beatles | Information Aesthetics (infosthetics) -- [The song "Hey Jude" by The Beatles, represented as a flow chart diagram, which itself is created in sync with the lyrics. And yes, even when the movie is just a smart viral marketing trick for an online diagramming service, it is nice to watch.]

I'd embed it here, but the owner of the clip has "restricted playback from certain sites"--including, apparently, LiveJournal, but not infosthetics.com, so go watch it there. (Full-screen 720 works well. :)

My only complaint is the after-the-fact editing of one process frame, but that's a minor quibble. :)

1895 USA map
I recently remembered the lyrics-in-outline-form meme from several years. With respect to the great American songwriter Robert Hunter, here's Jack Straw, the outline.
4th-Nov-2010 10:06 am - Flying around like Soul Coughing
Moons and stars
This is not a reformatted song, but I really think the sorts of us who dig reformat_songs will dig this.
Explanation and attribution are here: http://cadaeic.net/naraven.htm

Full text under the cut, because sometimes it's more fun to figure out the gimmick.

Moons and stars
* Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper died.
* The rock'n'roll genre isn't what it used to be.
* I hate Bob Dylan.
